Express Entry System
Canada’s federal Express Entry System is the fastest way to permanent residency (just 6 months). You must meet minimum requirements to qualify, and further optimize your ranking against other applicants to be a strong candidate. There are currently 3 programs under Express Entry:
Do you have at least 1 year of continuous work experience in a managerial, professional, or technical job (skilled trade), with strong language ability and education? If yes, you may qualify to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker program.
Do you have at least 2 years’ work experience in a skilled trade in the last 5 years, intermediate language ability, and a valid job offer or Canadian certificate of qualification? If yes, you may qualify to apply under the Federal Skilled Trades program.
Do you have at least 1 year of Canadian skilled work experience in the last 3 years, with strong language ability and education? If yes, you may qualify to apply under the Canadian Experience Class program. Proof of funds is not required.
PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS (PNP)
Each province and territory in Canada has its own immigration programs based on economic needs. Applicants must intend to reside in the province or territory of their application.

Ontario has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, and (d) entrepreneurs. You may qualify if you meet the requirements for professional skilled workers, or have studied and/or worked in Ontario, or are willing to start a business in Ontario.
British Columbia has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, and (d) entrepreneurs. All programs, except for entrepreneurs and qualified international students, require a job offer from a BC employer.
Quebec has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, (d) entrepreneurs, and (e) investors. Generally, applicants must be bilingual – French and English – to qualify.
Alberta has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, and (d) farm investors. Applicants, except farm investors, must have strong ties to Alberta to qualify – studied in Alberta, worked in Alberta, or have close relatives in Alberta.
Manitoba has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) entrepreneurs, and (c) farm investors. Professional skilled workers may need strong ties to Manitoba to qualify.
Saskatchewan has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, (d) entrepreneurs, and (e) farm investors. You may qualify if you either have qualified work experience, a valid job offer, graduated from a study program in Saskatchewan, or meet Express Entry requirements. You may also qualify of you are willing to start a business or invest in a farm in Saskatchewan.
The Northwest Territories has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, and (c) entrepreneurs. You may qualify if you have a valid job offer or if you are willing to start a business in the territory.
Yukon has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, and (d) entrepreneurs. You may qualify if you have a valid job offer or if you are willing to start a business in the territory.
New Brunswick has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, and (c) entrepreneurs. You may qualify if you have a valid job offer, or work experience in New Brunswick, or have ties to the province. You may also qualify if you are willing to start a business in the province. New Brunswick is also a participating province in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
Newfoundland and Labrador has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers and (b) international students. You must have a valid job offer to qualify. Newfoundland and Labrador is also a participating province in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
Nova Scotia has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, and (c) enterpreneurs. You must either have a valid job offer, be a qualified physician, have work experience, or intend to start a business in the province to qualify. Nova Scotia is also a participating province in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
Prince Edward Island has immigration programs for (a) professional skilled workers, (b) workers in intermediate or labour jobs, (c) international students, and (d) entrepreneurs. You may qualify if you have a valid job offer, or if you meet requriements for skilled workers, or if you are willing to start a business in the territory. PEI is also a participating province in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
OTHER Immigration Programs
Canada continues to adapt its immigration programs to its economic needs. These include start-up entrepreneurs, self-employed in arts and recreation, caregivers, and those intending to reside in certain communities in Canada.
Do you have an innovative business idea that can create jobs and compete on a global scale? Canadian investors may be willing to support your new venture AND support your plan to immigrate to Canada.
Do you have 2 years’ relevant experience in the last 5 years in cultural activities or athletics that can contribute to the cultural or athletic life in Canada? You can apply for permanent residency under the Self-Employed Program. Click below to see the list of accepted self-employed professions.
Are you an internationally trained or experienced caregiver for children or adults with special needs, including the elderly? You may be eligible apply for permanent residency plus an immediate work permit. A job offer from a Canadian employer is a required before you can submit you application.
Canada introduces pilot programs of limited duration based on economic needs. Currently, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) is welcoming applicants for New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. A job offer from a designated employer is required.
Canada introduces pilot programs of limited duration based on economic needs, one of which is the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program (RNIP). Participating communities include those in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Requirements differ per community, and are dictated by their labour needs.
