    Let’s Chat

PARENTS / GRANDPARENTS SUPER VISA

How is the PGP Super Visa different from a Visitor Visa?

A visitor visa allows you to stay in Canada up to 6 months. If you want to stay longer, you need to apply for an extension and pay a new fee.

The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent resident to stay in Canada up to 5 years at a time.

What are the requirements for a Parent or Grandparent Super Visa?

To be eligible for a Parent or Grandparent Super Visa, you must:

  • be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • have a sponsorship letter from your child or grandchild that includes a promise to provide financial support, number of people in his household, and proof of status
  • ensure your child or grandchild can meet the minimum necessary income for their household
  • at least one year of qualifying private health insurance from a Canadian insurer or an eligible foreign insurer
  • pass the medical exam
  • be admissible to Canada
  • proof of your intention to leave Canada at the end of your stay

Can you bring your dependants with you to Canada?

No, you cannot include your dependants in your application. Your dependants may apply for their own visitor visas and stay in Canada up to 6 months at a time.

How long is the processing time and what are the application fees?

Processing times vary depending on the volume of applications and where you are submitting your application.

IRCC application fees can be viewed here.

What are the key considerations in submitting an application?

The requirements might look simple on paper, but often applications are rejected because the documents submitted were inaccurate, incomplete, or non-compliant. Here are some key considerations when applying for a parent or grandparent super visa for Canada:

  • How do you ensure your sponsor meets the minimum income requirements?
  • How do you prove that you intend to leave Canada at the end of your stay?
  • What if your child or grandchild has an ongoing sponsorship application for you?

LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN.

We have the experience and expertise to assist you in applying for a Parent/Grandparent Super Visa, and the knowledge on how to best prove your intention to leave Canada at the end of your stay.

We firmly believe that our clients’ success is our success. We commit to ensuring that each application package is accurate and complete to avoid delays and errors that waste your time and resources.
